2019 Goals - Personal Development
Hi Friends! A few days ago I mentioned I’d be creating several posts talking about my art goals for 2019. The first category of goals I want to discuss is personal development. I have several art-focused personal development goals to gain new skills and sharpen the ones I already have. It’s important to learn new things, and I’m excited to see what I will learn this year!
I often start out painting very loose and intuitive, but tighten up and linger too long on details that have little impact. My goal for this year is to spend some time staying loose and expressive. That’s not to say I won’t continue with the same process I typically do, but simply that I want to allow myself more freedom to play and linger in that intuitive space a bit longer. I’m learning to accept my more abstract pieces as something I can be proud of, rather than something I have to hide from the world. I typically only share those paintings with my Patreon members, but I’m learning to be more vulnerable with my wider audience.
I touched on this in the previous paragraph, but consider it a separate goal. :) Taking time to explore and learn is one goal, the result of the finished “expressive” painting is another.
On the business side of personal development, I want to invest in some creative business coaching or take a workshop for creative entreprenuers. My budget doesn’t allow me to make this a regular thing at the moment, but I want some help growing into a sustainable art business. I’ve reached the point now where I’m ready to see results, and teaming up with the right people can help me reach my goals faster.
What are your personal development goals?
